3rd World Ecotourism Conference
Between 3rd and 5th October 2011 Cambodia hosted the 3rd World Ecotourism Conference, in collaboration with the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Asia Pacific Ecotourism Society (APES).
The three-day conference aimed at developing Asia Pacific region as a leading ecotourism destination, under the theme "Charting the Future of Ecotourism in Asia", and attracted some 400 governmental officials, tourism ministers, deputy ministers, ecotourism specialists, businessmen, representatives from national and international ecotourism associations and communities from 23 countries, mostly in Asia Pacific region.
The venue chosen for the conference was Preah Sihanouk, a coastal province in southwestern Cambodia and the country's third most popular tourism destination after Siem Reap's Angkor Wat temples and Phnom Penh.
